Indian Visa Photo Requirements

Your photo for the Indian Visa application will have specific requirements regarding size, position, format, lighting, and duration from the date the photograph was taken. The Indian visa also requires a recent photo, and one taken no more than six months prior to application. Photos from high school will be rejected. If you do not have a recent photograph, you should ask a friend or family member to take one for you. In addition, high school passport photos will not be accepted.

Size

Regardless of whether you are applying for an Indian Visa online or at a travel agency, you will need a picture of yourself with your face clearly visible. The Government of India requires a photograph that is at least 2 inches in size, and is clear and natural. Your photo should also be between 35mm and 40mm in diameter. Format

The e-Tourist visa for India requires you to submit a passport photo with the correct size and format. There are other criteria to meet as well, and failing to meet them may result in delays or rejection. Both color and black-and-white photos are accepted by the Indian government. Color

For your passport photo to be accepted in India, there are certain standards that must be followed. The passport photo must be at least 50 mm in width and height and must be glued on the application form using a paper clip. No shadows

Applicants applying for a visa to India should make sure that their photograph is clear, with no shadows. This is because the government has recently updated the visa photo requirements. A photo that doesn’t meet these guidelines may result in a rejected application. In addition, applicants must take two copies of the photo before they submit it. The photo should be in colour, at least 2 inches by 2 inches, and in continuous tone quality. The photo should be of the applicant’s face in full, with his or her eyes open. The background should be white or off-white, and without any shadows or reflections.

No hats

No hats or headgear are allowed in photos for an Indian visa. Photos taken in India must be centered, a maximum size of 35 mm x 40 mm, and taken within six months of the applicant’s planned trip. The photo must be a continuous tone, in colour, and of a recent, full-face view, with eyes open and no shadows or glare. Indian passport photo requirements stipulate that each applicant must submit two photos.
